Muscovite, also called common mica, potash or isinglass, is a hydrated silicate mineral containing aluminum and potassium. It is colorless, silvery, or pale brown, but can also be found in shades of green, yellow, rose or red. It occurs in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. Due to its perfect basal cleavage, it can be split into thin, transparent, and elastic sheets that are widely used in electrical appliances as electrical and thermal insulators. It is believed to possess healing properties, including stimulating the heart chakra, enhancing intuition and psychic vision.
