Quartz

Quartz is a hard, crystalline mineral composed of silica, i.e. silicon dioxide that is transparent or translucent. In macrocrystalline quartz, individual crystals are visible to the unaided eye; whereas, in microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline varieties, aggregates of crystals are visible only under high magnification. Macrocrystalline varieties of quartz are identified on the basis of distinct colors, such as, amethyst (purple), citrine (yellow), rose quartz (pink), chalcedony (white cloudy fibrous), carnelian (reddish orange), aventurine (green, yellow), agate (multicolored, banded), onyx (multicolored, cloudy), jasper (impure chalcedony, multicolored, patterned), smoky quartz (grey to brown), tiger’s eye (blue, yellow, red), prasiolite (green), rutilated quartz (needle inclusions), Dumortierite quartz (blue and white) and prase (green). Upon application of mechanical stress, quartz crystals develop electric current, a phenomenon called piezoelectricity. Clear Quartz absorbs, stores, regulates energy and removes negative energy. It is also believed to balance and revitalize the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual planes.
