Green fluorite cabochon

Clear green fluorite cabochon displaying colors of the rainbow formed within the crystal. The spectrum is formed due to light refracted from fibrous inclusions of fluorite itself in the crystal. Green fluorite is a calcium fluoride mineral with isometric cubic crystals of low hardness. Pure fluorite is allochromatic, i.e. colorless and transparent, but elemental impurities make it variously colored. Some specimens display “cotton wool-like” cloudiness of lighter-colored (pale green or white) fluorite that grew in a swirled pattern in the crystal due to environmental changes or chemical alterations during formation of the stone. Cabochons can be used in rings, pendants or necklaces. Green fluorite stimulates the heart chakra, promoting emotional healing and compassion. It is also believed to provide relief in a chaotic situation and strengthen relationships.
