This Raw Zebra jasper is the heartbeat of the earth, captured in black and white. It features bold and striking opaque chalcedony with distinct and ordered strips. The dark or black bands are typically composed of iron oxides or other minerals, while the white or lighter areas are composed of pure quartz. Banding in zebra Jasper is due to rhythmic deposition of different materials over long periods of time. The stone is mined in South Africa, India, Australia and USA. Due to hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale, it is used in jewelry and decorative items. It is believed to aid in grounding, protection, and balance. Raw stone can be kept anywhere in the house or office.
