Khambaba Jasper

Kambaba Jasper or Green Stromatolite Jasper is a layered sedimentary formation created by photosynthetic microbes and minerals such as Quartz, Feldspar, Cristobalite, and Albite. It is recognized by distinct dark green and black swirling patterns. The microbes include cyanobacteria and sulfate reducing bacteria among others. These fossilized microbial mats date back to about 3 billion years and are considered some of the earliest evidence of life on Earth. They are formed by trapping sediment particles within sticky algal biopolymers. As the mats build up in layers, the characteristic layered structure of stromatolites is formed. Thus, Khambaba jasper stone is not a true jasper. It is believed to aid in grounding and stability, offer protection, emotional balance, calming, activating root and heart chakra to facilitate peace and tranquility, reducing stress and anxiety. It is used in jewelry and decorative objects.
