Obsidian, an igneous rock, is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed when lava released from a volcano cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. It is hard, brittle, and amorphous; it therefore fractures with sharp edges. Obsidian is believed to offer protection against negative energy. It releases emotional, physical, and spiritual blockages, and offers relief from stress and tension.
